Carlton G. Salmons has been partner in the Gaudineer & Comito, L.L.P. law firm and its predecessors since 1982. Mr. Salmons was born in Beloit, Wisconsin in October, 1947. He enlisted in the United States Army in January, 1967 and served in the then Republic of Vietnam from February, 1968 through December, 1968 in the 214^th Combat Aviation Battalion, attached to the 9^th Infantry Division in South Vietnam.

He returned to his undergraduate education following the military, graduating summa cum laude from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois in 1973, fourth in his class of 700, with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He received his legal education at Drake University Law School in Des Moines completing law school in two and one-half years where he graduated in the top 25% of his class in December, 1977. At that time, Richard C. Turner, Iowa's Attorney General, hired Mr. Salmons as Assistant Attorney General where he was assigned a tort defense practice in the Tort Claims Division.

In 1982 Mr. Salmons became a partner in the predecessor of his present law firm. He was admitted to the practice of law in Iowa in January, 1976; to practice before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Iowa in, respectively, 1978 and 1980; to the United States Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1980; to the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in 1988; and to the United States Supreme Court in 1986.

He has been a member of the American Bar, Iowa Bar, and Polk County Bar Associations.

Mr. Salmons is a collector and appraiser of oriental rugs and is currently restoring his historic home in the Sherman Hill neighborhood.
